Ed, The HMH Learning Platform
Help With Logging In

Students

The instructions provided below are for HMH Ed-direct log in users and do not apply to single sign on (SSO) users.

Important: If you are logging in for the first time, your teacher must provide you with a username and password. If you have forgotten your username or password, ask your teacher to help you.

To log in to Ed:

  1. Open HMH Ed at the following URL: www.hmhco.com/ui/login.
  2. The Sign In page appears.

    Note: If you have logged in to Ed before this session, your location information may be saved and already populated. If so, skip to step 3.

  3. If necessary, enter your location information as follows:
    1. In the Country field, begin typing the name of your country or select from the list.
    2. In the State field, begin typing the name of your state or select from the list.
    3. In the District/Independent School field, begin typing the name of your district, diocese, or school or select from the list.
  4. In the fields provided, type your Username and Password.
  5. Click Sign In. The Dashboard page appears.

Note: If your organization uses single sign on (SSO) login credentials to access HMH Ed, you simply log in once to access all of your organization's platforms. For non-SSO users, follow the Ed-specific instructions provided below.

Log In Methods:

First Time Users

To Log In to Ed the First Time:

Depending on how your organization sets up user accounts, first-time teacher users may receive a welcome email with login credentials or they may be directed to request their login credentials on the Sign In page. Instructions are provided as follows.

  1. If you received an Ed platform Sign In email, click the link in the email to begin, and skip to step 6 below.
  2. or

    If your organization directed you to request your Ed login credentials yourself, open Ed at the following URL: https://www.hmhco.com/ui/login. The Sign In page appears.

  3. Complete your location information as follows:
    1. In the Country field, begin typing the name of your country or select from the list.
    2. In the State field, begin typing the name of your state or select from the list.
    3. In the District/Independent School field, begin typing the name of your district, diocese, or school or select from the list.
  4. Click the Request sign in details link. A Request my sign in details page appears.
  5. In the Email field, type the email address that is tied to your school/organization staff account, and then click Submit. A welcome letter is sent to the email address you entered.
  6. From your email account, locate and open the welcome email. The email contains your username, login information, and a link to create/reset your password.
  7. Note: If you cannot locate this email, try looking in your Junk or Spam folders. The email is from HMHAccessNotifications@hmhco.com and the subject line states "Welcome to Ed: Your Friend in Learning."

  8. Click the Reset My Password button in the email. A Create a new password page appears.
  9. On the Create a new password page, do the following:
    1. In the Username field, type the username provided to you in the email.
    2. Type a password using the password rules, and then retype the password.
    3. Click Create new password.

    The Sign In page appears. The location fields (Country, State, and District/Independent School) are populated with your information.

  10. In the fields provided, type your Username and Password and then click Sign In. A welcome terms and privacy dialog box appears.
  11. Select the check boxes to accept the Terms & Conditions and the Privacy Policy, and then click Submit.
  12. If this is your first log in, you are asked to set up your Teacher Success Profile. See Set Up Teacher Success Pathways for details.

Return Users

To log in to Ed directly (return users):

  1. Open HMH Ed at the following URL: https://www.hmhco.com/ui/login or using the shortcut URL provided in your welcome email. The Sign In page appears.
  2. Note: If you have logged in to Ed before this session, your location information may already be populated. If so, skip to step 3.

  3. If necessary, enter your location information as follows:
    1. In the Country field, begin typing the name of your country or select from the list.
    2. In the State field, begin typing the name of your state or select from the list.
    3. In the District/Independent School field, begin typing the name of your district, diocese, or school or select from the list.
  4. In the fields provided, type your Username and Password.
  5. Click Sign In.
  6. If you have set up your Teacher Success Profile and linked all your classes to programs, the Dashboard page appears.

    1. In the Username field, type the username provided to you in the email.
    2. Type a password using the password rules, and then retype the password.
    3. Click Create new password.

    The Sign In page appears. The location fields (Country, State, and District/Independent School) are populated with your information.

  11. In the fields provided, type your Username and Password and then click Sign In. A welcome terms and privacy dialog box appears.
  12. Select the check boxes to accept the Terms & Conditions and the Privacy Policy, and then click Submit.
  13. The My Schools page appears, which is the Ed landing page for administrators.

Return Users

To log in to Ed directly (return users):
