ExamView Users

If you are a district that uses ThinkCentral (TC) and Holt McDougal Online (HMO) and also use the ExamView® software, make a note of the following issues and recommended procedures.

The ExamView  Login page contains a new field requiring the MDR PID. To find your MDR PID, go to your HMO  Update Your Current Account Information page. (For instructions on how to locate this page, see HMO-Update Your Account Information .)

ExamView is not SSO compliant. Your district's SSO access is available only to TC and HMO.

To use ExamView, users require the alternate password from TC or HMO used in the file import process or manual platform user interface process.

Districts often upload a password that is unique to each and every user so they can tell the user what the password is. However, if you do not want to manage the alternate passwords, you can leave the password field empty/null and a password is auto-generated for each account. (See instructions below for details.)

Any content in ExamView that is from 9.0 installer and earlier is restricted to 20-character usernames, which typically do not support traditional SSO usernames. Instruct your ExamView users to upgrade to the 9.1 installers version of ExamView.

If you are using MAC OS 10.15 or greater, you must use TurningPoint desktop. Using this version requires additional assistance from Turning Technologies to support uploaded data files. You can email: examviewlegacycontent@turningtechnologies.com or visit Turning Point: Examview transition for Mac OS 10.15 for assistance. We expect this feature to be fully self-service before the 2020 school year.

To manage alternate passwords for your ExamView users:

1.    Decide how your organization plans to manage alternate passwords for ExamView:

      Set and manage alternate passwords.

Allow users to set and manage alternate passwords.

2.    Communicate to your users that ExamView requires an alternate path for log in, so an alternate password must be used to log in to this application.

Note: The URLs for SSO ONLY support access to TC and HMO.

3.    If your organization chose to set and manage alternate passwords, then do the following:

a.    Enter the alternate passwords in the CSV file.

b.    Share those passwords with your users.

4.    If your organization chose to allow users to set and manage alternate passwords, then do the following:

a.    Leave the password field blank (NULL) in the import file, and then follow the instructions below to communicate site access.

b.    Provide your teachers with these instructions to manage their own passwords and their students' passwords:

Manage Teacher Passwords: Upon first login, each teacher clicks Reset Password. An email is sent to the address registered for the account. Each teacher must open the email, click the link provided to reset a password, and then create a password.

Note: The email comes from *.HMHCO.COM, so tell users that they must not block this email.

Manage Student Passwords: Teachers can do one of the following:

Edit the student passwords one at a time and distribute to students.

Reset all student passwords by distributing temporary passwords, and then the students are prompted to create their own passwords.

c.    To retain existing values for users' passwords, leave this field blank (NULL) upon subsequent uploads.
