Welcome to myWriteSmart: Grades 612

Get to know the dashboard, activity screen, and key features in one quick view.

Version 1

Introduction

  • myWriteSmart is a web-based resource, which allows students to carry out engaging writing activities as they progress through the Collections program.
  • myWriteSmart will also help you to meet Common Core standards that require students to use digital tools for writing assignments, to collaborate on writing tasks, and to integrate media into writing assignments.

Getting Started

Before using myWriteSmart you need to:

  • Create one or more classes
  • Add students to the classes
  • Assign activities to each class

Dashboard

  • To open the myWriteSmart dashboard, click the icon in the Resources panel.
  • The dashboard displays assigned activities that have not been completed.
  • To open an activity, click anywhere on the bar.

Individual and Group Activities

  • When assigning an activity, you can choose if you want students to work individually or collaborate as a group.
  • Open the Student List or Group List to view the students or groups who have been assigned the activity.
  • You can select and view the work of any student or group that has started the activity.

Peer Review

  • This feature allows your students to review and comment on one another's work.
  • When you create an assignment, you can enable or disable Peer Review.
  • Students can comment on another student’s work only if you enable the student's commenting rights within the class to which the activity is assigned.
