Template Considerations - SFF, OneRoster, or Traditional

HMH recommends the use of the Simple File Format (SFF) or the OneRoster® 1.1 CSV format for your rostering needs. These solutions offer the greatest level of features and flexibility and can roster data to ThinkCentral (TC); Holt McDougal Online (HMO); and Ed, the HMH Learning Platform. If for some reason SFF or OneRoster® 1.1 CSV do not meet your needs, you can still use the traditional platform import templates (TC and HMO) or you can use manual entry.

For details about the types of imports allowed by each template type, see Import Option Types.

Note:

If your organization uses Ed, The HMH Learning Platform, then you must use the SFF template or the OneRoster® 1.1 CSV template; traditional platform templates do not work with Ed.

If your organization uses multiple platforms—Ed, ThinkCentral (TC) and/or Holt McDougal Online (HMO)—you must use the same template-type for all platform imports—either OneRoster, SFF, or Traditional (TC and HMO). It is not acceptable to mix the import template types in your imports by using the SFF template for one platform and then using the Traditional template for another platform.

The table below provides some guidance to help you decide which template best meets your needs.
