Create and Manage Notebooks and Free Notes

The notebook feature allows you to create boards to discuss a class topic or add notes to lesson content. You can create Free Notes that are unrelated to a board topic. Additionally, you can view shared student boards.

To add a board:

1. Tap the Notebook button on the HMH Player title bar and tap Notebook. The Notebook page appears.

2. Tap the Add icon and tap Board. A New Board dialog appears.

3. Type a descriptive name for the board in the Board Name field. The name should communicate the content focus for the notes contained in the Board.

4. Tap Create. A new Board appears titled with your descriptive name.

To edit a board:

1. Tap the options icon and tap Edit. The board dialog appears allowing you to change the board title.

2. Tap Save to store the change. The Notebook page refreshes with the new board title.

To delete a board:

1. Tap the options icon and tap Delete. A confirmation dialog appears to confirm your deletion.

2. Tap the check mark to confirm the removal of the board. The Notebook page refreshes and the board no longer appears on the page.

To add a free note:

Note: You can also create a Free Note using the Notebook feature. Once you tap the Add icon and tap the Note icon , the steps are the same to Enter the Note Title and content.

1. Tap the Notebook button on the HMH Player title bar and tap Free Note. The Free Note dialog appears.

2. Type a descriptive name for the note in the Enter a Note Title field. The name should communicate the content focus for the note.

3. Type your content in the field below the formatting controls. Note that you must enter text in the content field or you cannot save the note. The title displays as the note title on the Notebook page.

4. Apply formatting features to enhance the content information. HMH Player uses formatting features common to many applications.

5. Tap Save to store the note. A confirmation message appears indicating that your note was saved to the Notebook page.

6. Tap the check mark to confirm the save and return to the HMH Player dashboard.

To move a note:

Note: You can move a note to a board using the drag and drop or the Move to... options.

Drag and Drop

1. Select the note and drag it to the appropriate board. A confirmation message appears indicating that your note was moved to the board.

2. Tap the check mark to accept the move and return to the Notebook page. The note moves to the assigned board.

Move to...

1. Select the note and tap the options icon .

2. Tap Move to... and tap the board title. A check mark appears next to the selected board title.

3. Tap Move. A confirmation message appears indicating that your note was moved to the board.

4. Tap the check mark to accept the move and return to the Notebook page. The note moves to the assigned board.

To delete a free note:

1. Tap the options icon on the note and tap Delete. A confirmation dialog appears to confirm your deletion.

2. Tap the check mark to confirm the removal of the note. The Notebook page or board refreshes and the note no longer appears.

To view a student-shared board:

1. Tap the Notebook button on the HMH Player title bar and tap the Shared Student Boards icon . The Shared Student Boards dialog appears listing all classes with student created and shared boards.

2. Tap the class with student shared boards to view and tap View. A list of shared boards appears.

3. Tap a board to view the notes. A list of notes appears.

4. Tap a note to review. The note content appears.

To return a board to a student:

➔ Once you complete your viewing of a student-shared board, tap the options icon for the board you need to return to the student and then tap Return to student. The board closes and the Notebook page appears.
